Well, here we are at the end of April 2022 (1/3 of the way through the year!!!) and the month is living up to its slogan “April Showers bring May Flowers.” At least there’s no snow like last year and we can meet in person. Some farmers have gotten out in their fields, but the next couple weeks will tell the story of how planting will progress. Car events are beginning, so personally I’m hoping for some warmth and No Rain!
The CDC has announced the end of the pandemic, though covid may never go away and boosters for some people may be recommended yearly (kind of like the flu shot). More possibilities for gathering are happening every day. With mandates being lifted, immune-compromised individuals, as always, should take precautions to protect themselves.
The good news is car shows and cruises will go on this year. And there are a lot of them. Get your cars tuned, shined up, and ready for the road. A couple events have already happened, so we may hear about them at the May meeting.
We’re so happy to be able to have our 24th Motor Muster on May 14 with proceeds benefiting Cunningham Children’s Home as in the past. Your club board and Motor Muster committee members have been busy signing up sponsors and collecting door prizes for show participants. You can help by asking businesses for gift cards or coupons or samples of products for the door prize table. Make sure to get them to Scott or any board member as soon as possible. If you need a copy of the letter to present to a business with info about the show, please contact Scott Balogh .
Registrations have started coming in. The show poster is being distributed to the major sposors along with registration forms to put out in their waiting rooms. This is our club’s signature event, so we need all members to try to take an active part to help the show be a positive experience for the community and our sponsors.
Please make a good effort to attend the monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 3rd at 6:30pm at Peter B’s Automotive, 509 N Lierman Ave, Urbana, IL. Peter is a long-time ICCC member and has helped several club members with their club projects. If you need a ride, give me a call (Chris 217/419-0588). At the meeting we will continue to sign people up for positions at the registration table, helping to hand out spectator ballots and counting ballots, stuffing the participant registration packets, setting up and taking down of tables/chairs/signage at the show, parking and other necessary duties to help make the show a success. As they say, many hand make light work. This is your club and we can’t be successful without member participation.
We’re definitely going to have our club picnic in Philo on Memorial Day weekend – Saturday, May 29 at 11am. We’ll discuss this at our May meeting. Once we decide on a plan, I’ll send out a separate email invitation to club members with specifics. Pray for no rain! Our San Diego-based club member, Lou, will arrive for his summer stay with us just in time for the picnic this year!
Two weeks until Show Time! Spring is in the air. The cars need exercise. We need to see people. Let’s do it.
